THE CHANDELIERS
Gold parlor chandelier
Dining room chandelier
Several of the Villa's rooms retain their original chandeliers. The gold parlor, dining room and billiard room each have large and elegant gold-plated chandeliers with six globes for electric lights and six gas jets, electricity being the new luxury of the day, while gas was considered more reliable. The butler's pantry has a smaller fixture in keeping with the style of the dining room.
The entry way is lit with an alabaster bowl beautifully carved with a goddess motif that echoes the "three graces" on the adjacent fireplace. An upstairs master bedroom contains a similar artistic alabaster bowl light, which was added by the current owner.
The sweeping staircase is lit with a dramatic three-globe torchiere.
At the top of the stairs is another original chandelier with four electric lights and four gas jets. A similar fixture is located in the upstairs hall. Both are original to the house.
